The Papery

Green & Orange Hardcover Journal

G and O 1

Hello and Happy Monday!

I have had the best time creating this hardcover journal – it’s my first but definitely not my last!  Again, I used images from The Graphics Fairy (click here to check out this really great site), some stamps, a few Tim Holtz ephemera pieces, and along with tea-dyed paper, some pretty paper from different paper-pads I happen to have.  As always, there are plenty of beautiful inspirational videos on YouTube, and while it’s been a while since I watched them, their inspiration is still evident (particularly Jibid Neary‘s videos).

The little bits in this journal include ribbon, ribbon made from crinkly vintage flower material, envelopes, little notebooks, dangle charms, tags with dried flowers, leaves and petals and stamped patterns.

I decided to try to focus on the colours green and orange – mainly because I really love the colour combination.  The journal is 8.5 by 5.5 inches.  it is 4.5 inches wide when not tied shut, and 2.5 when tied. (It’s a little fat) 🙂

The cover, both front and back, is covered by cheesecloth, machine stitching, stamped patterns and a little embroidery over a tea-bag backing.  Here are images of the front, back and spine:

For some reason, the photo above of the spine is one of my favourite photos.

There are certain pages that are my favourite in this journal.  This first one includes tags made with the crinkle fabric ribbon, and flower leaves I collected from walks through tiny forests and dried;

Here are some of the other pages that, for one reason or another, make me smile;

And, still more;

This is by no means all the pages in the journal – I think it’s nice to leave some surprises for the eventual owner! 🙂  Speaking of which, if you are interested, the journal is listed in my Etsy shop:  MagicandMudPapery.

Okay, whew!!  I can’t believe I have actually finished that journal.  Hmm.  What will I do now?  There are a few hundred ideas swirling around in my head…let me go see if I can nail one down.

In the meantime, thank you so very much for visiting, and have a lovely Monday and week.

Mish

  1. I love this journal! It is so pretty and the colours all work well together. I love the little bits of material you have inside, and the patterns that have been used. Very creative!
